Starting in Colombia in the port city of Cartegena, where we overnight and visit the walled city before taking our short private flight to Bogota, Colombia’s high altitude capital, home to the Museo Botero. Bogota offers a wealth of places to stay from the traditional to the contemporary. Leaving the city behind us we fly to Ecuador.
No trip to Latin America would be complete without a visit to the Galapagos Islands either staying on board your own private boat or experiencing the delights of a contemporary eco lodge at the top of an extinct volcano.
After 3 days at sea we fly to Peru, and the ancient Inca kingdom of Machu Picchu only recently discovered by American archiologist, Hiram Bingham. Heading south to Lake Titicaca where we stay at a delightful remote lodge enjoying the rigoures of hikes and kayaking away from the madding crowd.
Flying south we continue our adventure to the Atacama Desert where we stargaze and perhaps enjoy a balloon ride, horse ride, hike up the Licancabur volcano and then relax at your private lodge, exclusive to Private Guide Worldwide and your guests.
Patagonia in Chile is breath takingly beautiful and is where we find the the Torres del Paine National Park. Here we can experience icebergs, glaciers and grassland with rare wildlife such as the elusive puma and llama-like guanacos. We stay on the shores of the Liucura River where we may spot the Giant Megallan Carpenter Bird amongst the forest.
Exhilarated after our first couple of days we continue our journey north to Argentina to the winelands of Mendoza in the Uco Valley staying at a small privately owned spa hotel, overlooking the snow capped Andes Mountains and famous Malbec vines.
After relaxing at our spa hotel we arrive at the bright lights of Buenos Aires, the vibrant party capital of Argentina. Enjoy VIP tickets to the opera or ballet, experience chef’s table dinners and catch a performance from the Milongo dancers. Our stay in the city can be either be in boutique hotel or a luxurious palace, the choice is yours. Not forgetting a private trip along the Tigre River Delta, one of the only major deltas in the world that does not empty into a sea or ocean but flows into the Rio de La Plata and Uruguay. Travelling by luxury boat we will be expertly guided around many galleries to experience the art and sculpture. Enjoy exclusive access to one of the famous islands such as Isla El Decanso.
Following our city experience we move to the Pampas and its 300,000 sq miles of fertile plains and stay near the gaucho town of San Antonio de Areca. A private plane takes us to Uruguay’s oldest town, Colonia del Sacramento for the day before returning to stay in your own private house set in 200 year old parkland.
Following the plains we travel to the world famous Iguazu Falls where we stay at a gorgeous colonial style hotel right on the very edge of the falls. Here we can view the macaws and toocans in the canopy of the trees. We can combine this with a visit to the Jaguar Conservation Project staying at on a private 8 berth luxury river boat.
The buzz of Rio de Janeiro beckons with the incredible experiences that it can offer with private art gallery viewings, behind the scenes access to Rio’s carnival winning teams Avario before relaxing at your hotel on Copa Cobana Beach. A helicopter trip to Angra on the coast and boat trip to the islands beckons the following day.
Leaving the city we move to the mountains staying in Ibitipoca State Park.
We finish our Latin American trip with a flight to Mexico, where we have private access to the famous Mayan ruins and temple. There are so many cultural special experiences on offer in Mexico City, the ‘hottest’ city in Latin America.
